Proximal Tibial Osteotomy for correction of deformity
Doctor: S. Robert Rozbruch
Patient: Luis
Luis is 30 year old mailman who fractured his tibia in a baseball game 10 years back. He developed arthritis in the knee, and also had a varus, flexion, and internal rotation deformity of his proximal tibia. He experienced pain.
We performed an osteotomy of his proximal tibia and applied a Ilizarov/Taylor Spatial frame to match his deformity. Adjustments of the frame led to correction of his deformity and decreased pressure on the arthritic side of the joint. He now has a straight leg with no pain.
