Double Level Tibial Osteotomy and Joint Replacement

Double level tibial osteotomy and joint replacement for correction of deformity and shortening

Doctor: Robert Rozbruch
Patient: Colleen

Colleen is 45 and at age 10 was diagnosed with a bone tumor (ABC). This was treated with radiation which damaged her growth plate causing shortening. She had 4 cm of discrepancy, a stiff knee with valgus deformity, and equinovarus deformity of the foot and ankle.

The first stage of treatment involved a double level tibia osteotomy to partially correct the knee valgus and to correct the equinovarus deformity of the foot and ankle. The second stage of treatment involved a distal femur and knee replacement to complete the correction of the deformity and leg length discrepancy and remove irradiated bone that was at risk for becoming cacncer.
