Bone Transport for reconstruction of a 17 cm bone defect after tumor resection
Doctor: S. Robert Rozbruch
Patient: Ian
Ian was diagnosed with a low grade osteosarcoma and underwent resection of 17 cm of his tibia. A trifocal bone transport was done to reconstruct the bone defect. Lengthening osteotomies were made at proximal and distal tibia.
At the end of bone transport, there are 2 areas of bone lengthening and no bone defect. Ian had a rod inserted to support the new bone. He is doing well and is leading an active lifestyle.
