Limb Salvage Reconstruction of Congenital Pseudoarthrosis of the Tibia with Bone Transport
Doctor: S. Robert Rozbruch
Patient: Natalie
Natalie was born with Congenital Pseudoarthrosis of the Tibia. Despite multiple surgeries, she had a short, unstable leg and an abnormal gait. Xrays showed deformity, nonunion, and shortening of the tibia above the ankle.
At the initial surgery, the rod was removed and the nonunion was repaired. This was stabilized with a TSF frame. However the leg was still short. The tibia was lengthened by 2 inches at a proximal tibia osteotomy site. With equal leg lengths and a healed tibia, Natalie walks much better.
